On August 19, Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, attended the commencement ceremony for the Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant Project in Dhaka, capital of the country.

In her speech, the PM spoke highly of the importance of the project, saying its implementation would improve the water quality in the region, improve environment protection and people’s living standard, and help the sustainable development of the country.

The project is designed to treat 500,000 cu.m waste water every day. After its completion, it will become the largest WTP in Bangladesh or even in South Asia. It is also the first WTP to be built by a Chinese company, utilizing Chinese technology and preferential loan.
